Poems from a friend from Northern Africa

Listen to my heart

Listen to my heart and see its beats
You'd know about my love from its rhythms
Why do you ask and confuse me?
Listen to my heart and see its beats
You’d know about my love. Listen!
Listen to my heart…
There is a word you want me to say to you
I know it;
No matter how you much you try … Relax… I won't say it.
Ask my heart about its secrets;
It never hides them.
Why do you ask and confuse me?
Listen to my heart and see its beats,
You’d know about my love. Listen!
Listen to my heart…
I can not tell you (in person) that I love you,
My heartbeat has meanings that will answer you
My heart’s secrets and its rhythms are my words…
My tongue…
Why do you ask and confuse me?
Listen to my heart and see its beats,
You’d know about my love. Listen!
Listen to my heart...
The word you're waiting for, is in my eyes;
It's written and you can read it.
See what it is!
Ask… it will tell you about me
It might be in love with you…. Maybe!
But it’s not my business…

O Sea

You're wide like a playground, O sea
And your waves never get tired;
They keep singing. To a beach; running and playing!
You're wide and there are pearls in your heart
Your boundaries are the boundaries of the far sky.
Don't erase the houses we’ve built and the new stories we written.
You're wide like a playground and your waves never get tired!
Never gets tired…
The star looks daily at you from its blue windows.
And the sun gets shy and sinks; you hide it with your shadow.
You're wide like a playground and your waves never get tired!
Never gets tired...
Fill the fishermen's nets; their young kids are praying
Return their ships and protect them, through all this space
You're wide like a playground and your waves never get tired!
Never gets tired…

Take me

Take me, my love, to comfort
To forget the past and start all over again.
Give me rebirth; Guide me from you and to you
I want to love you more;
Teach me to forget you everyday,
So that your love comes back to me bigger;
And I learn each day to love you.
Teach me to forget you everyday…
Talk to me all day; swing me with the news.
Your voice awakens me early and each night I sleep on it.
My love, a new life where my dreams beam in me,
So days of joy come back to them, and color my days
Take me my love to comfort
To forget the past and start all over again.
Give me rebirth; Guide me from you and to you
I want to love you more;
Teach me to forget you everyday,
So that your love comes back to me bigger;
And I learn each day to love you.
Teach me to forget you everyday.
O my years, don't forget me; inquiries, don't call me.
I am coming
O my self, don't tell me; draw my life in dates
And let happiness rejoice me that every tomorrow is a celebration.
But tomorrow doesn't come and so does the promise;
So I keep on singing and repeating:
Take me my love to comfort
To forget the past and start all over again.
Give me rebirth; Guide me from you and to you

You and I

You and I…
I wish we could fly
On the wings of birds, fly…
To places where there’s no-one… behind the horizons,
Behind the last sound… of the last echo.
And the sun carries us, spins us like silk.
You and I; I wish we could fly.
I wish we could ever be stolen,
On the wing of some leave, blown by the breeze.
We are together.. with a curl of the blue sky… I wish.
And the wind takes us... swings us;
Takes us far away,
So the world becomes us…
And we fly! Start to fly…
You and I…
I wish we could fly
On the wings of birds, fly…
To places where there’s no-one… behind the horizons,
Behind the last sound… of the last echo.
And the sun carries us, spins us like silk.
You and I; I wish we could fly.
