There was no smartphone, no internet, to television.
The Advent season we spent time with doing handicrafts, singing Christmas carols together, listen to the radio, playing cards or ludo, listen to what the adults were talking about, my mother was knitting, my father was carving sth.
We ate what there was. Vegetarians and vegans hadn’t have a chance to survive, special treatments were absurd. Spaghetti, Burger, French fries or even mangos imported on a plane were totally unknown. But on Christmas my Grandma gives us one glass of her self-preserved quinces --- God! So delicious! We had much self-preserved vegetables, even meat were canned. Fridges and freezers came much later into the household. The first household appliance was a washing machine with an extra spin dryer --- what a sensation!
On Christmas, I got always the same puppet – repaired, with a new dress on. For every child there was one piece to put on and a Christmas plate, on it (counted, we proofed that!) nuts, oranges, chocolate, cookies; the very best was a book.
Today, people have so much more, but I have the feeling, they are getting poorer.

This year, so much is different to years before.
I had time to remember my childhood in the 50th:
